      The Milwaukee Road Heritage Center Museum in Montevideo, Minnesota seeks a Collections Archivist. The Archivist is responsible for the overall management, preservation, and accessibility of the organization’s archival collections. This role oversees the acquisition, assessment, organization, and safeguarding of historical artifacts related to the Milwaukee Road railway, ensuring that they are maintained in accordance with professional standards and accessible for research, and community enrichment.
      The archiving consultant will be responsible for confirming the number of items in the collection, being trained in the use of Collective Access, ordering and setting up equipment and supplies, developing necessary manuals, forms and documentation, beginning time-trial inventory, entering data into Collective Access, creating a phasing plan, and writing and submitting the final report for the Minnesota Historical Society grant this project is funding.
      Experience in archiving is required and with Collective Access experience is beneficial.
      The Milwaukee Road Heritage Center offers a competitive wage for 350 hours to be completed by October 1, 2026.
